Hi all –
We hope your winter was tolerable and that you were not where the bad weather was. We are working on a newsletter for the spring and it’s time to start thinking about our spring volunteer day.
April 20-24 is National Park Week and we would like to get an early start by proposing that our volunteer day be Saturday April 18th. As with recent volunteer days, we will attempt to remove some more internal fence on the Paulsell Ranch. If we have enough people, we will break into crews. There are at least 3 more miles of mesh fence that are the top priority for removal as well as many more miles of barbed wire that is no longer needed. Removal of this fence gives wildlife an easier time of it on these lands.
For those who would rather, there will be work to do around the Paulsell headquarters, cleaning up and helping to remove a non-historic addition to the ice house.
If you would like to join us, please let us know by April 3rd if you can. As we have done before, we will have hand tools on site, gloves if you need them, and we will provide a boxed lunch. We will meet at the Paulsell Ranch headquarters at 9:00 – we can provide transportation across the Rio Puerco for those who need it.
More details to come as we get closer. Thanks, as always, for your support of Petrified Forest National Park!
