Hi all –
Public Lands Day this year is September 30. We hope it’s not the eve of a government shutdown!
We at Petrified Forest plan to do a couple of projects at park headquarters. One will be converting our former fire engine bay into a warehouse by removing all the stuff that’s in there (the fire engine is already gone) down to the walls and assembling and placing the heavy duty shelving we’ve bought. The other project will be to continue the painting of the stucco in the main plaza its original white color. The covered walkway in front of the Community Building is the target.
If you’re interested in participating, we’d love to have you. As usual, please bring what you need to work – sturdy shoes, gloves if you have them, and a water bottle. We’ll provide tools, lunch, and water. Unlike some of our fence removal days, there will be shade and restrooms available this time!
In order for us to plan, please RSVP by September 15 by responding to me at brad_traver@nps.gov. Thank You! I hope to see you then!
Brad
