We are happy to welcome Jeannine McElveen as the new superintendent at Petrified Forest National Park. McElveen has worked for the National Park Service for over 20 years, most recently as the superintendent of Hovenweep and Natural Bridges National Monuments in Utah. Since starting September 15th, McElveen was not given much time to just sit back and take in the scenery! Petrified Forest is in the process of a large Federal Highways Construction Project which will require shutting down sections of the main road through the park as several of the bridges will be rebuilt. This is being done in the winter to have a little impact as possible on visitors.
