Please join us! This volunteer project takes place at the 50,000-acre Paulsell Ranch, which the Park Service acquired in 2011, so participants will see a part of park not seen by very many others. This is a great chance to give back to a park that gives us so much! We invite one and all to participate in this free volunteer service event!
Public Lands Day, Saturday, Sept. 22
Come volunteer to help remove unnecessary fencing inside the park so that wildlife can easily move back and forth. Work can be strenuous and involves walking over uneven terrain for over a mile in some cases. Bring sun protection, sturdy shoes, water bottles, and work gloves if you have some you like. Park will provide tools (including gloves if needed), transportation, water for refilling bottles, and lunch. Meet at Painted Desert Visitor Center parking lot (exit 311 off Interstate 40) at 9 am Arizona time. We will return to the parking lot by 4 pm.
This is a joint project of Friends of Petrified Forest, National Parks Conservation Association, and Petrified Forest National Park.
